Air quality specialist Maria Fuhrmann joins the team

Earthcare Technical has had a great start to 2015 and welcomes Maria Fuhrman to the team. Maria has worked with us on a number of projects in 2014 and has proven skills in: Air Dispersion Modelling, Air Quality Monitoring and Control, Odour Management and Control, Environmental Auditing Environmental Impact Assessment Environmental Regulatory Permitting and Compliance Landfill Gas Management Trace Gas/ Chemical Fingerprinting We are very pleased to have her on board. ORG Event :All you need to know to get, and keep, PAS 100 certification – 6th March 2014

The course is targeted at the composter’s personnel who is involved in the implementation, establishment, maintenance and improvement of the PAS 100 quality management system. For example, personnel: • responsible for monitoring and controlling the composting process; • responsible for product preparation; • responsible for dispatching/selling the compost product/s; • who has the overall responsibility of the PAS 100 QMS; • site operatives who carry out inspections on the input material deliveries. In addition, the course is also open to consultants who are interested in becoming approved under REAL Compost Certification Scheme and anyone else who is interested to understand the basic requirements of PAS 100 and REAL Compost Certification Scheme. The course contents will include the theory of PAS 100, as well as a practical, site-based session that will give delegates some useful background knowledge. Please, see the programme below.

This half day event brings together industry experts who have lead five field trials funded by WRAP, within its ‘Digestate Use in Landscape and Regeneration’ programme.  The event will outline the how digestate and compost may be used by the regeneration sector for commercial advantage and provide delegates with the latest results from the field trials. Autumn highlights

 We welcome Dr Claire King who joins Earthcare Technical as an associate and brings a strong skills set  and experience to the team, her details are listed on our ‘Associates’ page.  Audrey Litterick and the growing media team are currently updating the WRAP growing media specification and good practice guide. The Earthcare Technical team have also: successfully permitted a number of sites in recent months; registered numerous deployments for digestate, gypsum, compost, sediments dredged from inland waterways, and food wastes applied to land, all for agricultural benefit and closing the loop on nutrient cycling; continued our work with our project partners ADAS on ‘DC-Agri’, both on the field experiments themselves and in the production of articles, bulletins, video clips and knowledge exchange events across the UK; thoroughly enjoyed presenting our first Earthcare Technical FACTS NMP course at Growtrain, Chichester and will be running the next course there 15th/16th January 2014, please contact enquiries@earthcaretechnical.co.uk  for more details joined the Steering Committee for the review of PAS110, with Audrey Litterick representing smaller anaerobic digestion units and continuing her work with the Organics Recycling Group Committee in Scotland.

HGCA Soil Management Videos

In March  2013, HGCA teamed up with CSF on a series of farm walks to help growers respond to tough soil conditions.  Videos featuring Earthcare Technical's Anna Becvar on Sourcing quality compost and The benefits of using compost can be viewed on the HGCA website.  Videos were produced at the E.B Gowing & Son farm event (near Norfolk).   Anna enjoyed working with the HGCA team alongside Philip Wright, Lisa Chenery and Dr Andrew Whitmore on the day.  All the videos from the day can be found on the HGCA website  under Soil Management .

Digestate & Compost in Agriculture – Latest

Soil Lives! is available now!

A new book from one of the Earthcare team has just arrived!  Described as "A biography of the uncelebrated earth beneath our feet" Martin's latest book Soil LIves! is (you've guessed it) all about soil.  But this one is different - in forty short pieces it brings together stories of science, art and culture structured along a timeline of three generations of a family living in the Midlands over the past hundred years or so.    Here's the Preface:  "This is a book about science, culture and soil, viewed from the perspective of one family living in England in the Midlands over the past hundred years or so. On the grand scale of things this particular family is not, in any way, extraordinary. There are no buildings or spaces dedicated to their names, no published obituaries, and no surf-friendly websites to click onto.

Anna Becvar and Susie Holmes will be the key BASIS approved trainers within Earthcare Technical for England and Wales. In Scotland Dr Audrey Litterick, is working with SAC to deliver FACTS NMP. The course comprises of six modules, which need to be completed by current FACTS Qualified Advisers, by December 2014 if they are to retain their FQA status beyond that date. Piror to December 2014 to pass the course and gain FQA status a simple on line multi-choice can be taken through the BASIS website.
